Does My Solo 401k Have to File Form 5500?

Most solo 401ks do not have an annual 5500 filing requirement. If a solo 401k plan has assets of less than $250,000 at the end of the plan year, then it does not have to file a Form 5500-EZ for that plan year. However, all plans must file a Form 5500-EZ for the final plan year to show that all plan assets have been distributed.
